FOOD vs. FOOD “STUFF” — All About Healthy Choices

With every passing day, our concerns about distinguishing FOOD from FOOD “STUFF“ fades away. Our focus tends to shift from nutritional needs to satiating hunger. via FOOD vs. FOOD “STUFF” — All About Healthy Choices

Dr  Jonathan  has nailed this one. In our day of look good, feel good cheap processed foods it takes a little work to sort through the myriad of products to find wholesome, natural foods. Most people don’t take the time and just grab something fast. The end result is the deteriorating health of an entire generation.

Did you know the foods you eat actually make you feel hungrier instead of full?

White bread

The white flour used to bake white bread has been stripped of its outer shell (the bran), which depletes the grain’s feel-full fiber content.

Juicing

Juicing is a popular rage which gives you all the sugars of your favorite fruits and vegetables with none of the pulp and fibers (which make you feel full).

Fast food

Pretty much every ingredient behind a fast food counter is designed to make you supersize your meal. For instance, trans fat inflames the gut, potentially impairing the body’s ability to produce appetite-controlling neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin.

Alcohol

Alcohol doesn’t just lower your healthy-eating resolve, it downright makes you hungrier: According to research published in Alcohol & Alcoholism, just three servings can slash your body’s levels of leptin—a hormone designed to squash hunger and keep you feeling full—by 30%. “Alcohol can also deplete your body’s carbohydrate stores (called glycogen), causing you to crave carbs in order to replace what was lost

MSG (aka monosodium glutamate)

is a flavor-enhancer best known for being added to Chinese food, and may also be found in other foods including canned veggies, soups, processed meats, and even beer and ice cream. One animal study from Spanish researchers suggests the chemical triggers a 40% increase in appetite.

These are just a few and the list is endless. Thanks for visiting, Hope this helps.

Until Later you friend Bill.

How to make Infused Oils from Plants

Infused Oils are easy to make and good to have on hand for many minor injuries and illnesses. Simply combine the plants for the condition you want to treat in a heavy stainless steel pan (do not use cast iron or aluminum because it will react with the mixture), Cover the plants with extra virgin olive oil and heat on low for 30 minutes.

Then pour the mixture into a jar that seals tightly and steep for 2 weeks, shaking daily. After the 2 week period strain the oil through cheesecloth and put into clean jars.
