How to make Infused Oils from Plants

Infused Oils are easy to make and good to have on hand for many minor injuries and illnesses. Simply combine the plants for the condition you want to treat in a heavy stainless steel pan (do not use cast iron or aluminum because it will react with the mixture), Cover the plants with extra virgin olive oil and heat on low for 30 minutes.

Then pour the mixture into a jar that seals tightly and steep for 2 weeks, shaking daily. After the 2 week period strain the oil through cheesecloth and put into clean jars.

Take your infused oil and grate 1/4 ounce of beeswax for every 1/2 cup of infused oil. In a heavy stainless steel pan(aluminum of cast iron will degrade the properties of salve) warm the oil over low heat, add the beeswax and  stir util it melts. Remove from heat allow to cool slightly and pour into jars while it is still warm. Once the mixture cools completely, close the lid tightly.
